About the company

Our client is a cybersecurity company.

The role

Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Take responsibility for delivering customer-facing software from design through production at an early-stage company. The work spans backend data processing and low-latency automated decision systems, with frequent direct contact with customers during pilots and rollouts. You will also help set technical direction alongside a very small engineering group.

What you'll do

  • Take full ownership of new capabilities, from initial design to live release for large business customers within a few weeks.

  • Build backend pipelines that collect and process large volumes of varied telemetry from many sources.

  • Create real-time systems that detect problems and apply rules automatically.

  • Partner with customers during pilots and rollouts, sometimes releasing improvements while an engagement is still in progress.

  • Train compact machine learning models that return quick judgments within strict latency limits.

  • Stress-test models and automated agents with adversarial scenarios so weaknesses surface before customers encounter them.

  • Contribute to platform architecture and technical decisions with a small founding group.

Requirements

What we're looking for

  • 0 to 4 years of engineering experience, internships included.

  • A record of delivering production software.

  • Time spent at startups recognized for strong engineering talent.

  • Solid backend and systems fundamentals, such as large-scale distributed systems or infrastructure.

  • Comfort with an intense, fast-moving environment that has little formal structure.

  • Ability to work on-site in San Francisco.

Bonus points

  • Background in competitive programming.

  • Hands-on machine learning experience, such as adapting or tuning models.

  • Exposure to application security, adversarial testing or attacks on machine learning systems.

  • Experience at a quantitative trading firm.

  • Prior work embedded with customers or in a client-facing technical role.

  • Degree from a highly ranked computer science program or equivalent.
