About the company Our client is a fast-growing financial technology company. The role Raydar is recruiting for this role on behalf of our client. Own and build core backend infrastructure for a software platform, shipping production code from the start. The work covers designing systems and delivering features end to end with minimal direction, alongside senior leadership. It also offers a path toward technical leadership and a hand in shaping the engineering team. What you'll do - Ship code to production early and take full responsibility for its quality. - Build and own core infrastructure, data storage layers and system architecture. - Write specs, design systems and deliver features end to end without heavy direction. - Extend and harden the existing codebase so it keeps pace as usage and complexity increase. - Collaborate directly with the founding team in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment. - Help hire teammates and contribute to engineering culture as the team expands. Requirements What we're looking for - 2 to 7 years of backend development experience, with exceptional recent graduates considered if they have a strong internship track record. - Strong Python and backend fundamentals, with a record of shipping production-grade code quickly. - Depth in system design, including PostgreSQL and ownership of scalable architecture. - Comfort working in cloud environments with common API and container tooling. - A high-agency mindset and a habit of taking extreme ownership. - A history of solving hard problems independently. - Interpersonal skills and a desire to grow into a team lead position. - Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco. Bonus points - Prior experience as a CTO or founding engineer. - Strong competitive programming or research achievements. - Background at a high-caliber quantitative trading or financial firm. - Experience building software in regulated industries or financial services. Benefits Compensation and benefits - Base salary: USD 165,000 to 250,000 per year - Equity - Relocation support Location and work model - San Francisco, CA, United States - On-site - Full-time
